Hand Sewn Stationery Since 1999

about

The name "Mira Aster" was found in a book about aster flowers. While it is truly a type of flower, we like to think of Mira Aster as a creative person who loves handwriting, fabric, paper, sewing, color, art, and craft.

Anne Millett is the founder, owner, and chief maker of Mira Aster handmade stationery. She doesn't mind when people call her "Mira". She started her business in Brooklyn, New York in 1999, and exhibited a small line of hand sewn note cards at a trade show in 2000. Orders from wonderful shops across the country came right away. Next came inquiries for invitations, and the custom business was born. Creating bespoke invitations for weddings and events led to other items for the events themselves- programs, escort cards, place cards, menus, favor tags, food and drink signage, thank you notes, and beyond. This gave Anne the opportunity to develop her calligraphy, hand-lettering, and sign-painting business.

Our invitations have been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides, Modern Bride, Elle Decor, Teen Vogue, C magazine and other print publications. Blogs include Style Me Pretty, Snippet and Ink, Junebug, Green Wedding Shoes, and more.

Fast-forward to 2016: from creating custom stationery for those special "cake and champagne days" to again selling our line of handmade note cards, we hope to inspire you to celebrate every day life by handwriting, sharing, and sending your own sentiments and wishes through the mail.

Kindly contact us if you would like to sell our stationery in your shop. If you're interested in collaborating on stationery for your special event, you're also invited to contact us.

All items are handmade in our studio in the idyllic Victorian town of Petaluma, California, 30 miles north of San Francisco.
